Maarit has been with Ozgene since 2003, starting as a Marketing and Sales Coordinator while also serving as a Personal Assistant to the CEO. In these early years, she demonstrated a strong ability to build relationships and expand Ozgene’s global footprint. Maarit’s contributions to the company’s growth and efficiency led to her promotion to Strategic Partnering Executive. In this role, Maarit played a key part in developing and implementing processes and tools for marketing, sales, and customer relationship management.

Maarit embraced a pivotal role in Ozgene’s Lean implementation, driving the process-driven transformation of the Strategic Partnering team. Her commitment to continuous improvement led to her appointment as Chief Transformation Officer (CTO). As CTO, Maarit collaborated with cross-functional teams to develop transformation strategy and build a culture that embraces change and encourages innovation and continuous improvement.

As of November 2024, Maarit has stepped into the role of CEO of Ozgene, culminating a journey of over two decades of dedicated service and leadership. As CEO, Maarit brings exceptional expertise, a drive for continuous improvement, and a personal commitment to Ozgene’s mission “to advance humanity – inspire curiosity,” positioning her to lead Ozgene into an exciting new era.

Maarit holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Finland, where she majored in international business. She went on to complete a Master of Commerce (MCom) in Marketing at Curtin University in Australia. She also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Utah State University with a Shingo specialisation, which provided her with a strong foundation in the principles and behaviours needed to sustain operational excellence.
